Last saturday, the 23rd of October, I was invited to give a short lecture for ‘Our House in the Middle of the Street’, a symposium organized by Maja Bekan to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Kunsthuis SYB.

Each lecture was happening in a different part of the house, living room, kitchen, bedroom, etc. This was a great idea and a refreshing setup. It gave me some new inspiration for trying new ways to organize the conference for a future edition of make art.

For the occasion, I tried to not use a laptop and video projector for my talk, using instead books, as slides and material to circulate in the audience. I think this worked very well, even though it got me side tracked and confused a couple of time… (coughing) :) But In the end, it’s something I absolutely want to try again and work to improve it. It has an obvious added quality coming from the “warmer” feeling provided by such an analogue interface with an audience and the location.

At the end of the lecture, I was asked several times if I was going to publish the list of books and material shown. I did not think about that to be honest, but I thought it was a great suggestion, which is the reason of writing this post. Maybe good to mention that one part of the lecture, on the manifesto aspect of licensing, will be developed further in an upcoming paper to be published early next year. But for now …
