Which ice cream flavor(s) do you like the most?

Banana cream pie ice cream! only got to have it once though…. but you know who I also say cookies’n’cream for the more sure-thing-choice.

What is your last or upcoming project about?

My upcoming project is a really neat solo album I am working on… hopefully by next year I will be releasing an entire album of collected works and collaborations with many producers and musicians with the help of Circuitree Records and Panther God. Very excited. !!
Otherwise we have a sleepover Remix competition that is wrapping up and I’m excited to be one of the judges picking the winner!

How do you make music? Any specific workflow or methods?

For our Ep we recorded the whole thing in my basement in Chicago. He sent me three tracks that I wrote melodies and lyrics over… and he produced three of my songs that I had written on keys. His tracks were Peace Buds, Outside Glitter and Burn. My songs that he produced after hearing were Frightened Deer, The Sun and Ghosts.
It was really great doing this album because I had never written music like this before. I got to take his track and channel lyrics and ghost melodies I heard in my head onto his tracks. He also challenged me to play my songs to a dancey beat. Gave me a great mindset to direct my songs into.

How do you make a living?

Me? Well I dabble in a few thigns. I do freelance photography, I make a lil money doing singing gigs from time to time but I have a work at home online job doing secretarial/scheduling work. Its nice though because I get to travel a lot and bounce around while still makin money…..
Charlie? He doesn’t work..but lives in london with his wife currently. I hope to make a living writing and performing my music eventually though.

How do you feel about people sharing your music?

Share it! Give it! burn it! rip it!
but a donation would be nice on my bandcamp sometimes. I just want to become successful enough to not worry about sales and get payed by playing killer shows.

Who was your musical hero[in]s when you were a kid?

David Bowie. I was totally devastated by him in the labyrinth (fav album) and by his iconic image. He is so fantastic. I may have originally listened to his albums absent-mindedly while I was coloring and painting while I was younger, but I was always drawn into his album artwork and covers.
Now I think his music is pretty good, but it was his image and his voice that snagged my young heart. hehe. I actually was late onto jumping on the train of “hip music”……. I started out with the influence of my father’s music tastes with the the talking heads, nirvana which eventually led to and radiohead and Japanese girl rock & grove bands (Shonen knife,& Cibo mato) for fun

What musical genre do you love but would never make yourself?

Ah! that is so funny because over the years I have done every kind of music I like. I went from musicals and classical singing in highschool, to vocal jazz in college to folk rock to folk pop now to electronic dance… and I’m loving it.
I have been able to everything I have taken an interest in. But since I listen and collect electronic music it feels better then every to be making music I want to buy! ah! yes! But there will always be a place in my heart for jazz and folk. I’m sure I will eventually come up with an answer but right now I’m very pleased with my experiences and genre making. If I love it i have to make it.

Which artists are you following at the moment?

Right now I am still very into School of Seven Bells. Their first album: Alpinisms. They are the epitome of female vocal harmonies, electronic music and natural spiritual lyrics combined. I also keep coming back to Black Moth Super Rainbow, Crystal Castles, four tet, Bibio (remixes) and now a lot of more dreamy atmospheric electronic music like Houses album “All Night” has been on rotation during a lot of writing and working.
I love music that can be played during activities. Whether it be bringing an ipod and speakers on an epic hike or bike ride or having tunes to meditate or relax to.. It is great to have that element of atmosphere. Music is often like candy though to me and I can listen to a specific or remix or track to death.. so I am always on the hunt for new tracks…

*Outside Glitter*

Hey

Grow awake and then die
smold’ring light crystalize
go outdoors to breathe riding our own bikes with ease

fallen leaves and circling air
being outside is just like making prayer

Grow awake and then die
smold’ring light crystalize
go outdoors to breathe riding our own bikes with ease

fallen leaves and circling air
being outside is just like making prayer

Go outside please go outside please..
We don’t get older or mature much
we just get more responsibilities
