Kirsten & Marie

Meet Kirsten & Marie, two nineteen year old Danish twins. Kirsten and Marie are signed to the record label Tambourhinoceros. Their self-titled EP is filled with catchy melodies and heart-melting harmonies.
In their songs ‘My Dear’ and ‘Cracked Lips’, the fresh and acidulous voices evoke the passage of time, the world and feelings of childhood…
The young sisters will release their debut album soon. Listen to them!

Which ice cream flavor(s) do you like the most?

Dark chocolate ice cream –both of us.

What is your last or upcoming project about?

Right now… trying to finish the last songs for our debut album. At the moment we are also touring and going to school.

How do you make music? Any specific workflow or methods?

Sometimes we go to our holiday house. We stay there, isolated from our everyday-life, listening to our favourite music, drinking redwine and eating good food and chocolate. Sometimes this bear fruits. But since we go to school we aren’t able to do this often.
The guitarplay is always written first, and afterwards we create the melodies for our voices. A good friend of us, who lives in florida, writes the poems that become our lyrics. We have used her poems ever since we started writing music. She is 18 years old, and called Makaila Stierlin.

How do you make a living?

We still live at home and don’t have rents and food to pay…

How do you feel about people sharing your music?

It’s lovely when people want to share the same great feelings, and joy about music as we got.

Who was your musical hero[in]s when you were a kid?

Savage Rose, and our daddy’s rock records!

What musical genre do you love but would never make yourself?

Weird dance-music. That kind of music which is meant for dancing, but not actually possible dancing to.

Which artists are you following at the moment?

Forest and Chrispian, Great Lake Swimmers and Beach House.

*My Dear*

My dear, when was the last time I held you near?
When was last time I whispered in your ear?

When you are gone, people will find me in tears,
When was last time I whispered in your ear?

How much I love you, dear

My dear, when was the last time I held you near?
When was last time I whispered in your ear?

When you are gone, people will find me in tears,
When was last time I whispered in your ear?

How much I love you, dear

Words are not enough, this love is tough, my dear.
When was last time I whispered in your ear,
When was last time I whispered in your ear?

Lyrics by Makaila Stierlin.

*Cracked Lips*

Ghostly shadows accent absent black eyes,
Set on the distant affirmations they seek.
They stare past us into the very old skies.
Red beads form on their cracked lips as they speak.

“Lives grow less and less, Lady Time will plunder.
Looking back, how can we learn to ignore it?
What winnings does eternity hold” they wonder,
“When each day mirrors the one before it?”

Their eyes can see the qualms that assail us.
Our motions have lost their ease, our skin that pearly glow;
Our voices are old and our memories fail us,
But Time heeds so little in her daunting flow

Lyrics by Makaila Stierlin.
